Samuel Cubas Simão was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2001. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Itajubá (UNIFEI) in 2023. During his undergraduate studies, he worked in organic synthesis, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of isonicotinic acid derivatives with potential antimycobacterial activity. He obtained his Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in 2026, where his research under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Coelho focused on the reactivity of isatins toward Lawesson’s reagent and the synthesis of thieno[2,3-b]indole derivatives from Morita–Baylis–Hillman adducts. In the same year, Samuel began his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Campinas under the supervision of Prof. Rodrigo A. Cormanich. His doctoral research focuses on computational and experimental studies of organofluorinated compounds, with particular interest in molecular conformation, tautomerism, lipophilicity, and the effects of fluorination on molecular properties. Outside the lab, Samuel enjoys playing video games, spending time with family and friends, and occasionally convincing himself that staring at a running calculation is a form of relaxation
